Comments: I purchased this yarn and pattern last July on a week-end trip to one of my favorite yarn shops,Yarn Paradise in Asheville, North Carolina.Jeannie and Tootie joined me on the week-end get away that I look forward to twice a year. Yarn Paradise is located in the beautiful quaint village, 6 All Souls Crescent, right outside The Biltimore House!

While shopping at 6 All Souls Crescent we stopped for tea at Chelsea's Tea Room. Chelsea's is the sweetest, most "Girlie" Tea House Ever! The Tea Room is beautiful with French and English antiques and their quintessentailly English Tea begins at 3:30.

Tootie is always the center of attention and never never misses any Fiber trip. We think she loved our selection, and did I mention how the Fabulous Peach Tea hit the spot??

and the thing is.......Sophia is Finished!

Yes indeedy, this cardigan is magnificent!!!

Sophia was knit in 40 days! I admit the majority of my knitting time was committed to this project, with the exception of one square for my Great American Afghan and testing the waters on my Lace Sampler Scarf. As mentioned in a prior post, Sophia was my first cable work without a cable needle. This shaved many hours off the project and for sure I will knit many more cable designs using this method.

Debbie Bliss-Rialto is a fabulous yarn and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Waaa.Waaa.Waaa.....I have to wait till fall to wear Ms. Sophia!!!

Comments: It is highly unusual for me to make a yarn purchase (and especially a purchase of 12 balls) without a particular pattern in mind. But, when I saw this color I simply had to have it!! I have searched Ravelry for different projects using the Silk Garden and have no doubt the perfect sweater or shawl design is out there waiting for me.

A Very Good Saturday

My Oriental Lily is in full bloom!

Jeannie and I spent a couple of hours with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha and of course, Mr Big!! I have always loved the Sex and the City TV series and think it takes a fan of the series to have a full appreciation of the movie. Sex and the City has always been all about the bond between the four women and the movie was no different. The friends have their ups and downs but the friendships remain in tact.

Personally I thought the movie was witty and effervescent. Does that make me Shallow??? Maybe. So be it!





Jeannie and I get a kick from occasionally surprising the other one. Such was the case this week-end when Jeannie gave me a Super-Duper pen and some Mickey Mouse stickers!! I love Mickey Mouse and I love stickers, so there...perfection!!!! Now it's for sure with my new Super-Duper pen I will get much more knitting in......no more searching for my misplaced pen. Thanks Missy!

My 100th Post replaced Fess-Up Fiber Friday last Friday! Sooooo, without further ado let's get back into the Fiber Friday Groove with Not One, Not Two but Three hanks of Vesper Sock Yarn purchased from Knitterly Things.

Comments: Each skein is hand dyed and every colourway is unique. These hanks were ordered directly from Knitterly Things on three separate occasions. At the time of my purchases, their yarns would be posted on the website on Thursday evenings and would practically sell quick as made available. The hank band states this sock yarn is 400 yards of Self Striping Goodness and I totally agree!!

100th Post - Putting Myself "Out There"

OMG! Unbelievable my 100th post is in the works! Knitting on Cloud IX was born in August, 2007 and is an avenue I take to share my passion and enthusiasm for knitting.

It is seldom I share personal thoughts or information about "Me" with you, so why not let my 100th post be a time to put myself out there.

My real name is not Knitting Diva, my real name is Dawn. I was born in North Carolina and raised with my twin brother
at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.











I live only 1 hour from my family
but still miss seeing them 7 days a week. My Dad passed away in December, 2005 and I grieve for him daily; I miss sitting on his lap (yes, I still sat on his lap at times) and leaving red lipstick kisses on his cheek.

My DH is retired...now let me be very clear right here, right now, once and for all, I love the many benefits that come from dwelling with a retired spouse! I continue to work full-time as a Human Resources Manager for a Manufacturing Company. My mother-in-law (a dear one) has lived with us for 15 years.

We all can think of things we would change in our life and my list is a long one. But the one thing I am proud to say I would Never change in my life is the years I spent as a stay-at-home Mom with my one son. Those were precious years!
Now....20 Things I Can't Imagine Myself Ever Doing.
(In no particular order)

1. Not wanting what is best for my son.
2. Grumble about the change of seasons.
3. Forgetting 911.
4. Miss a month reconciling my check book.
5. Stop loving the scent of fresh bed linens.
6. Eating Sardines...UGH!
7. Miss an every other day chat with Mom.
8. Smoking. (quit that nasty habit years ago).
9. Vacuuming my house every day.
10. Stop believing in God.
11. Crawling under a bed.
12. Taking my friends for granted.
13 Giving up chocolate.
14. Losing interest in knitting.
15. Being without a dog.
16. Stop learning from my mistakes.
17. Not dreaming of a Hawaiian vacation. (unless I actually get to go one day).
18. Stop loving myself.
19. Forgetting where I come from.
20. Giving up on a family member.

Learning about you through your blogs and reading of the highs and lows of your life/knitting ventures have brought me much enjoyment during the last couple of years. I appreciate your every comment and I am most grateful for every friend I have made in the world of blogging.

The Great American Afghan

Finished is my first block for The Great American Afghan! This is square #7 designed by Susan Z. Douglas. The piece was a fun knit and the acorns are really cute.
I chose to knit this in Berroco Ultra Alpaca. You can check out my color selections on Ravelry (KnittingDivaGirl). My plan is to make this throw 60" x 48"...that means I Only have 19 more squares to knit! I have all three of the Cascade Yarns American Afghan books and plan to select favorite squares from each book.......what a Fabulous Journey this will be!
